Can every home be equipped with an adequate security & fire detection system regardless of construction type?
Absolutely! The latest security technology includes both wired and wireless components.  This technology, coupled with our technician’s high-level of training can create a hybrid system which can incorporate both types of components.  This ensures a high level of protection on older homes or homes that have inaccessible crawlspace or attic space.

I have shopped around and am finding that many security companies have 2-3 basic package systems. What are the pros and cons of going with this type of system?
There are package deals in most every industry.  The is no one security system bundle that is a perfect fit for every home and every family’s needs.  We offer several packages to fit the needs of specific situations, but we always recommend our complimentary home evaluation.  This way we can explain the pros and cons of the more basic packages to you on a more personal level.  If you are in an apartment on condo you might find that the more basic packages are a perfect fit.  If you have children and pets, you might consider one of our pet friendly packages.  No matter what you situation, we at NorthStar Security take pride in making sure you are fully protected and we are not satisfied until we have put together the correct system for YOUR needs.

I have animals. Does this compromise the overall security I will receive from my system? (i.e. motion detectors)
No.  Again, our qualified staff of technicians are trained to overcome just about any obstacle to provide you and your family (and animals!) with the best possible intrusion and fire protection.  We even have “pet immune” devices that can distinguish between pets and humans!  We ALWAYS recommend monitored smoke and carbon monoxide detectors for homes with pets.  If you are away from home and there is a fire, the fire department is automatically called, giving your pets a much greater chance of survival.

Our home is pre-wired for security. Does this have any impact on the overall cost of our security system?
Yes. In most situations, a professional pre-wire job will significantly lower the cost of each opening, intrusion and fire detection devices.  We offer discounts in many new home communities.  Most new homes will direct you to a certain security company after closing – let us also give you a quote.  We find that many times, the “preferred” provider is not giving you “preferred” rates on service.

I'm not very technical. Are your security systems difficult to use?
NorthStar Security is unique in the sense that we are a multiple brand carrier and installation company.  We offer systems for just about any level of end user.  All of our systems are extremely easy to use and our technicians are trained to provide a complete and comprehensive system walk through.  The job is never complete until you are 100% confident in your ability to use your new system.

Do I own my system or is it leased?
All of our customers own their systems!

Can anybody monitor the security systems that NorthStar Security installs?
Absolutely! Some companies install proprietary systems which can only be monitored by that company. Not us. We at NorthStar Security would rather focus on making our customers so happy with our service that you will remain our loyal customer for years to come!

Ok, so I have your system installed. Will I get the run-around if I ever need service?
Absolutely not! NorthStar Security has a strict policy that every customer requiring service will be scheduled within 48 hrs in most situations!  Also, most of our systems come with a full warranty on equipment for as long as you own the equipment.  Warranties can also be added in the few situations where they are not included for free.

Will I have to have a credit check if I want to purchase an alarm?
We have many different purchase programs. Some require a credit inquiry and some do not.  We will explain the differences and let you choose so you can pick the program that is right for you.

In an alarm situation, how long do I have to wait for help to come, and who responds?
We at NorthStar Security program every alarm system to start automatically dialing within 3 seconds of an alarm activity (i.e. Unauthorized Intrusion, Fire Emergency, Medical Emergency or Carbon Monoxide alarm). Many companies set the alarm communication delay at 30-60 seconds, which could literally mean the difference between life and death. The computerized dialer within the alarm system instantly calls the central station which will promptly either verify the emergency with the customer or dispatch the appropriate agency immediately (depending on the nature of the emergency and any local/state requirements.) Every company in the industry must abide by the same CP-01 false alarm reduction standards. We do everything in our power to minimize response time and get you the help you need quickly.

How will burglars know that our home is protected?
We provide you with a yard sign and window/door decals which clearly state that your home is protected. If this does not deter them to go to the next house, they will find out soon enough that you indeed do have a security system if they make any attempt to enter the premises (Siren will sound and the Police will be automatically dispatched).

False Alarms. How easily are they triggered?
From our experience, there are usually 2 main reasons why false alarms occur:

1. The customer has not been trained properly on the use of their security system.
2. Poor installation.

Our reply...The technician will spend however long you need to confidently operate your system.  We also  guarantee a top notch professional installation every time or we will promptly rectify any such situation so it never happens again.

Do you offer any Warranty/ Service plan with your security systems:
Yes. We offer great service plans, most of which are included at no additional fee.

Do you offer products which include a Medic Alert feature
ALL of our systems automatically come with a medical panic feature. We also offer additional wireless medical pendants, wireless key chain remotes with integrated panic feature and other related products which are fully compatible with any system you choose to purchase from us.
